Horizon Hunters Gathering is a co-op action take on the robo dino series that borrows from Fortnite, Hades and Monster Hunter

After much anticipation, Sony and Guerilla have finally unveiled their new online Horizon game, Horizon Hunters Gathering. This co-op action game seems to draw inspiration from Monster Hunter, but with its own unique twists.

One of the standout differences is the striking art style change, departing from the traditional Horizon aesthetic. The game adopts a vibrant 3D animation style akin to Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse, adding a fresh and dynamic feel. Players can choose from a selection of pre-set characters, each with distinct classes, a departure from the customization options in Monster Hunter.

The character roster includes a hammer-wielding warrior, a swift archer, and a spear-wielding heroine, offering a diverse range of playstyles. The combat mechanics appear flashy and engaging, requiring players to strategize and target weak points on robotic foes.

The first closed playtest will feature missions like Machine Excursion, where players must defend their base against waves of machines while collecting power-ups, adding a roguelike element. Another mission, Cauldron Descent, presents a dungeon-crawling experience reminiscent of games like Hades.

Players can also visit a hub area for equipment upgrades and customization options, adding depth to the gameplay experience. With its blend of various game elements, Horizon Hunters Gathering presents a unique and cohesive gameplay experience. While a release date is yet to be announced, the game promises an exciting journey for players willing to wait.
