Homeworld 3 is streamlining its release schedule for post-launch updates. Rather than staggered releases extending into 2025, all content – including three free updates and two paid DLCs – will now be bundled together in a single major update in November.
The decision to consolidate all remaining paid DLC and free content drops into one comprehensive release in November was made after the release of update 1.2. This unified approach aims to concentrate resources for a higher-quality experience, as stated in the announcement regarding the roadmap change.
“With the changes we’re making, we want to assure those of you who purchased the Year One Pass that you will be getting everything we’ve previously promised. Additionally, we’ve made modifications to our plans to include elements requested by the community,” the announcement reassured.
The Year One Pass included access to three paid DLCs expanding the co-op War Games mode with new playable factions and artifacts. The Kalan Raiders pack was released in July, while the Somtaaw and Taiidan fleet packs are now scheduled for November.
While early access to updates may be seen as beneficial, some players have expressed disappointment over the limited content in the Somtaaw fleet pack and concerns about future updates beyond the year’s end.
In our Homeworld 3 review, Nic highlighted the game’s loyalty to its predecessors but criticized its emphasis on reaction speed over tactical depth. The upcoming November update will incorporate free changes based on community feedback, such as player-controlled mission progression, a more linear tech tree, and reduced available resources to enhance strategic decision-making.
