Highguard 1.0.4 Update Patch Notes
Note: In order to provide these changes to our players as quickly as possible, some menu options are currently only available in English. Localized settings will be implemented in a future patch.
- Players can now choose between Hold or Toggle for Crouch on all platforms.
- Added the option to set Aim Down Sights to Hold or Toggle for PC players.
Toggling into ADS and then pressing Sprint will swap your scope. This may be disorienting on controllers. PC players using Toggle ADS are advised to rebind scope swap. We are exploring options to implement this for console players in the future.
- Console users can now adjust FoV up to 110.
- Low scalability settings for shadows and reflections have been optimized for better performance.
- Low shadow setting now disables volumetric fog.
- Added a new “View Distance Quality” setting to control skeletal mesh LODs for improved GPU and CPU usage.
Players now have the ability to toggle features such as Anisotropic Materials, Chromatic Aberration, and Bloom on or off regardless of other quality options.
Motion Blur and Depth of Field options require further testing before being safely disabled. Stay tuned for these options in upcoming patches.
- DLSS users can now select a DLSS preset, with more presets and detailed descriptions planned for the next patch.
- Players can now disable Global Illumination entirely.
- Resolved an engine bug that capped laptop users at 60 FPS regardless of frame rate settings.
Crash and Bug Fixes
This patch addresses crashes occurring in various scenarios:
- Crashes when leaving a match on PS5 with unexpected input state.
- Crashes when loading into matches on machines with slower storage devices.
Several other bugs related to online user presence and matchmaking have also been resolved.

- Friend status has been fixed, with players now appearing online correctly and Xbox presence updating reliably. The top crash issues have been resolved, leading to a 90% reduction in crashes.
Although a comprehensive review of Highguard is pending, early impressions from Dom suggest that the game’s PvP experience is promising. Dom states, “Highguard’s first steps into the PvP arena are confident and unashamed, despite what the angry voices on the internet might tell you. The slightly odd mix of Apex Legends, Rainbow Six, and He-Man actually makes for a good time, and there’s so much room for more to happen here. That will take time, and I hope that it finds the audience it needs to thrive.”
