Here's a demo for Tako no Himitsu, a Game Boy Advance-style JRPG with music from Golden Sun's composer

The upcoming indie action JRPG Tako No Himitsu: Ocean of Secrets takes place in a world marked by a historical conflict between Humans and Octopuses. Drawing inspiration from Game Boy Advance RPGs like Golden Sun, the game features music composed by Motoi Sakuraba (Golden Sun) and Masanori Hikichi (Terranigma).

Confession time – I have a soft spot for handheld console games, especially Golden Sun. The vibrant 2D graphics, dynamic battle camera, and engaging fantasy storyline captured my imagination as a young gamer. Tako No Himitsu, with its demo available on Steam, promises a similar experience, complete with real-time combat and a focus on teamwork and strategy.

According to the Steam page, the game’s plot involves the disappearance of wild animals, the emergence of the mysterious Temple of the Order, and the appearance of shadow voids across the land. Players must gather a team of six heroes and their Octopus companions to unravel the secrets of the past and save the world. With its top-down combat system and puzzle-solving elements, Tako No Himitsu offers a fresh take on the traditional JRPG formula.

The demo provides about an hour of gameplay, showcasing the game’s unique mechanics and retro-inspired visuals. As a spiritual successor to Save Me Mr Tako, developer Deneos’s previous platformer, Tako No Himitsu combines their love for tentacles and retro gaming into a compelling new experience. Whether you’re a fan of classic RPGs or looking for a modern twist on the genre, this game is definitely worth keeping an eye on.
