Users of iOS 18 have reported a glitch where their notes disappear from Apple Notes after agreeing to new iCloud Terms and Conditions. The issue seems to be related to unsynced notes rather than permanent deletion.
Upon closer inspection, users find that the missing notes are located in the “On My iPhone” section, indicating they are not synced with iCloud. Fortunately, the notes are still safely stored in iCloud and can be accessed through other devices sharing the same iCloud account.
To resolve this issue, users can simply turn on iCloud Notes sync by following these steps:
- Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
- Choose your name at the top of the screen to open your Apple Account settings.
- Select iCloud.
- Choose Notes.
- Toggle the switch on beside Sync this iPhone.
- Open the Notes app.
Once iCloud Notes sync is enabled, the notes should start syncing with iCloud and appear in the Notes app. Users may need to wait for the content to download, especially if there are many notes or large attachments.
If the notes do not appear after a few minutes, users can try toggling Notes syncing off and on again. This bug seems to affect users on various versions of iOS 18 but is likely to be resolved by Apple in the future.
