Greedfall 2 developers call a strike over working conditions, lack of gender equality and parity, and “global mismanagement”

Employees at Spiders, a studio owned by Nacon and responsible for Greedfall 2, have written an open letter to their employer outlining grievances that have accumulated over several years. The letter, signed by 44 out of 95 workers, calls for a strike due to management’s ongoing dismissal of their concerns. The document, released by the French union Stjv, aims to prompt management to prioritize the well-being of employees and the company.

The letter addresses various issues spanning years, exacerbated by recent leadership changes at the company. These include instability, lack of proactive problem-solving, mismanagement, high turnover, gender equality delays, transparency issues, and resistance towards recognizing worker representation.

This is the second open letter from dissatisfied Spiders employees, following a previous strike in January. Despite initial negotiations on wages, the studio’s conditions have worsened, leading to this current action.

The 20-page document highlights demands for transparency, worker representation, an end to centralized power, remote work flexibility, fair wages comparable to other Nacon studios, and immediate resolution of wage disparities based on gender.

Accompanied by cartoons featuring Spiders’ game characters, the letter emphasizes the need for management to address these concerns seriously.

Due to management’s persistent disregard for their issues, Spiders employees have planned a strike starting on September 2. The strike will involve physical picketing at the company’s offices and an online presence on a Minecraft server.

In a positive turn for labor rights, Bethesda Game Studios and World of Warcraft employees recently formed unions. Solidarité, Spiders.
