When unboxing the lamp, I found that the design was not the most attractive, with a large black pole and a bean-shaped lamp head. However, the lighting effects were the main focus, making it suitable for placement in a corner where the lamp itself is less visible.
The lamp is constructed with a black aluminum pole measuring approximately 1.7 meters in height, providing a substantial presence without overwhelming smaller rooms. The circular base is weighted for stability and maintains a compact footprint suitable for corner installations or alongside furniture.
The bean-shaped lamp head houses three LED zones within a curved translucent diffuser, contributing to the lamp’s smooth light-blending effect. The build quality feels premium despite Govee’s affordability, with smooth threading on the pole connections and a sturdy base.
The setup process is straightforward, with tool-free assembly and an intuitive smartphone app setup. The lamp’s tall design allows for impactful ceiling lighting effects, making it ideal for creating ambient atmospheres.
The Govee app serves as the primary control interface for the Torchiere, offering extensive customization options beyond basic functionality. The app includes settings for power, brightness, preset scenes, color selection, zone control, and more.
