Google’s new AI button in Gmail automatically adds events to Google Calendar

Google has introduced a new AI feature utilizing the Gemini AI bot to enhance your Google Calendar experience by automatically adding events based on information from your Gmail emails.

Gemini will identify emails that contain event details and display a new “Add to Calendar button” for easy interaction. Clicking on the button will prompt the Gemini sidebar to confirm the addition of the event. Additionally, Google provides an edit button in case any changes need to be made. This automation streamlines the process of adding events to your calendar.

This feature is reminiscent of Google’s previous non-AI functionalities that automatically updated Google Calendar events based on specific types of emails related to appointments or travel. The rollout of this new feature is currently underway for Workspace users in business, enterprise, and education sectors, as well as Google One AI Premium subscribers.

In testing this feature, it successfully identified multiple events within a single email. While the execution differed slightly from Google’s description (requiring confirmation before adding the event and lacking the edit button in the sidebar), users can still easily access the added events in Google Calendar with a simple click.

Overall, Google’s new AI feature enhances the efficiency of managing events in Google Calendar, providing a convenient and intuitive experience for users.
