Google rolling out Material 3 redesign of Gmail for iPhone

Google is now widely rolling out a Material 3 redesign of Gmail on iPhone and iPad after testing earlier this year. The design language is already available in Google’s Android and web apps, with iOS adoption catching up.

The redesign in Gmail includes a pill-shaped search bar, a rounded rectangle Compose button, and blue as the accent color throughout the application. The navigation drawer remains unchanged, but there are some tweaks in the message view.

This updated look and feel aims to match the Android and web experience. The Material 3 redesign is being introduced with version 6.0.250413 of Gmail for iPhone and iPad, offering a modernized user interface.

Material 3 is also available in other Google apps on iOS such as Google Chat, Home, Maps, Meet, Photos, and Search. Additionally, Google Calendar for iOS is getting a new feature that allows users to create and modify birthday events, although this update is not yet widely rolled out.
