Are you a fan of classical music? Does your life feel like a beautiful symphony with violins, pianos, and the occasional tuba? Do you dream of hearing tunes from the Elder Scrolls on a radio station your grandparents might enjoy?
If you answered yes to the last question, then you’re in luck! UK radio station Classic FM has enlisted Minecraft YouTuber DanTDM to host a series on video game music called Next Level with DanTDM. The title alone sounds like a show dedicated to video games.
Classic FM announced today that Daniel Middleton, known as DanTDM, will kick off the series this Saturday, January 11, with an hour-long episode starting at 9PM GMT.
In the first episode, Middleton will play music from legendary soundtracks such as The Legend of Zelda, Final Fantasy VII, Skyrim, and Street Fighter II, as well as some tunes from Minecraft. The series will continue every Saturday evening until Easter and can be listened to through Classic FM’s app or by tuning in to the station on your radio.
“Teenage me wouldn’t believe I have my own radio show,” Middleton said. “Having studied music production and worked in video games, this opportunity to combine both worlds feels surreal.”
Classic FM managing editor Philip Noyce added, “Dan will showcase the best video game music to our listeners and introduce VGM fans to Classic FM. We’ve always supported new forms of classical music, including gaming soundtracks.”
This isn’t the station’s first foray into game music, as they previously hosted High Score, the UK’s first radio series dedicated to game soundtracks. Middleton’s show promises to be worth a listen, especially for fans eagerly awaiting the Minecraft Movie.
