Santa Monica Studio has revealed that they will be launching the Dark Odyssey Collection update for God of War Ragnarök in honor of the 20th anniversary of God of War. Named after the original working title of the first God of War game, the Dark Odyssey Collection features a classic black and gold skin that players can unlock by completing God of War II on God Mode difficulty. Santa Monica Studio has confirmed that the weapon appearances will only be accessible once the weapons have been fully upgraded. Players can customize Kratos’ arsenal by individually applying the different styles. Additionally, a fan kit will be available, featuring social media banners, icons, and desktop and mobile wallpapers. For those in Los Angeles, an exhibition at Galley Nucleus will showcase artwork and memorabilia from the God of War 20th anniversary.
To mark the 20th anniversary, merchandise will be released with pre-orders opening this week. The God of War: 20th Anniversary Retrospective is a two-volume book set containing development stories, artwork, and behind-the-scenes insights. Collaborating with Cook & Becker, the studio will offer 20th-anniversary art prints, while a partnership with Fangamer will introduce a 67-inch Jörmungandr Plush. Vinyl enthusiasts can look forward to a 13-disc Limited Edition vinyl set from Laced Records featuring music from the series. Limited Edition double LP sets for the original God of War, God of War II, and God of War III will also be available. Insert Coin will release a series of t-shirts showcasing the logos of each game.
