France’s Atos eyes UK public sector with investment in secure UK infrastructure

Atos has made significant investments in building new UK delivery infrastructure to ensure that customer data is stored and processed with top-notch security measures.

This new UK-based infrastructure, equipped with artificial intelligence capabilities, will play a key role in Atos’s expansion plans within the UK public sector.

The recently appointed Atos UK CEO, Michael Herron, brings a wealth of experience from his time as a civil servant and working with government contracts at the Ministry of Defence and ICL.

Herron emphasized the potential for growth in the government sector, highlighting Atos’s 37 live contracts in the UK public sector, totaling £1.3bn, with clients such as the MoD, HMRC, and the Home Office.

Atos’s largest contract in the UK public sector is with the NSIB, valued at £475m over three years, where they provide IT outsourcing services. They have also secured significant deals with Defra and HMRC.

With a focus on the public sector, Atos has launched UK-based infrastructure, including three “sovereign” centres that meet the highest security standards and government accreditations.

Herron’s extensive experience in defense and understanding of geopolitical challenges align well with Atos’s goals of providing secure AI capabilities for businesses in critical sectors.

Atos faces competition in the UK public sector from companies like Tata Consultancy Services and Infosys, who have also seen success in securing government contracts.

Overall, Atos’s strategic investments and focus on security and AI capabilities position them well for growth in the UK public sector.
