After recently announcing its participation in the A16Z SPEEDRUN accelerator program, Flat2VR Studios has unveiled plans to bring four popular flatscreen games to all major VR headsets.
Specializing in adapting existing flatscreen games for VR, Flat2VR Studios has revealed the first batch of titles in development for release on Quest, PSVR 2, and PC VR. Take a look at the trailers below.
WRATH: Aeon of Ruin VR
The original WRATH: Aeon of Ruin (2024) is a hardcore FPS game inspired by ’90s icons and powered by the legendary Quake 1 Tech. Set in a decaying realm, players must uncover secrets and battle the Guardians of the Old World. With a “Mostly Positive” rating on Steam (77% favorable reviews), the VR version will offer direct weapon control. It remains to be seen if the studio will implement a manual reload system or stick with button-based reloading animations. No release date has been confirmed yet.
Roboquest VR
The original Roboquest (2023) is a fast-paced FPS Roguelite game set in a post-apocalyptic world. Players take on the role of a Guardian fighting against deadly bots in dynamic environments. With an “Overwhelmingly Positive” rating on Steam (95% favorable reviews), the VR adaptation, Roboquest VR, is expected to feature the same thrilling gameplay. Co-op support for up to two players in the original game has fans hoping for cross-play in the VR version. A release date for Roboquest VR has yet to be announced.
Flatout VR
The original Flatout (2004) offers a mix of high-speed racing, demolition derby action, and death-defying stunts. Rated “Very Positive” on Steam (92% favorable reviews), the VR port, Flatout VR, will immerse players in the driver’s seat for intense racing experiences. Comfort design will be a key focus given the game’s crashing and smashing elements. The release date for Flatout VR is still pending.
Trombone Champ: Unflattened
Trombone Champ, the viral meme-game of 2022 known for its challenging gameplay, is getting a VR makeover as Trombone Champ: Unflattened. This rhythm game offers players the chance to play the trombone with motion controls, providing a more authentic experience. With a “Overwhelmingly Positive” rating on Steam (98% favorable reviews), fans can look forward to a fun and immersive trombone-playing experience. The release date for Trombone Champ: Unflattened is yet to be announced.
