Final update to Morrowind-like RPG Dread Delusion adds a big nautilus with a town built inside its shell

The director of The Elder Scrolls Online recently stated in an interview that if Morrowind were made today, it would struggle to find an audience. He mentioned the lack of a compass, map, and quests that require specific directions, which he believes would deter players. However, have you heard of the open world RPG called Dread Delusion? It has just introduced a new area featuring a giant floating squid creature with a town inside its shell.

The latest content update in Dread Delusion introduces the Cephalok, a magical creature housing rare materials, including a castle built by Wikkans inside its shell. To access the creature, players must unlock the airship. The update also includes new enemies, powerful late-game items, and customizable airship components.

The update also includes a “hard mode” where attacks and spells consume more stamina and mana, enemies are tougher, and items are scarcer. This follows a recent performance patch that addressed issues like FPS drops when entering new regions.

Matt Firor’s quote from Edwin’s musings on open world games may not be entirely fair, as Dread Delusion does have a map and compass. While not the clearest map, it aids players in navigating the Morrowind-inspired RPG. The game encourages players to explore its world at their own pace, unlike modern open world games focused on broader audiences.

Dread Delusion caters to a specific audience interested in unconventional elements like giant mushrooms and eerie gods. It invites players to uncover the mysteries of its world, such as a giant nautilus in the sky with intriguing secrets inside.
