Even 23 years on, Final Fantasy 11 is still getting updates, with one coming that’ll let you change how your character looks

In a time where many games are shutting down, Final Fantasy 11 continues to thrive. While no longer available on PS2, the MMO still has an active community on PC. Just recently, the game celebrated its 23rd anniversary with a new update video and a letter from producer Yoji Fujito, highlighting new features.

Upcoming updates include more monsters in Limbus, a morale gauge system in Besieged, and a character race change service. This service will allow players to alter their character’s race, gender, face type, hair color, and size. Additionally, recent updates have introduced gamepad configuration adjustments and a new master trial called Wing of War.

Fujito’s letter also mentioned the team’s efforts to assist new and returning players, especially solo adventurers. The alter ego system, similar to Final Fantasy 14’s trust system, allows players to recruit NPCs for quests. The developers are planning to enhance this system to improve the solo player experience. It’s impressive to see such dedication to a game that has been running for so long.

While I haven’t personally played Final Fantasy 11, it’s reassuring to know that it’s still available for those who want to experience it. Kudos to the team for keeping the game alive and evolving!
