Ecco the Dolphin and Ecco the Dolphin: Tides of Time Getting Remasters
Ecco the Dolphin and its sequel Ecco the Dolphin: Tides of Time are set to receive remasters, announced by original creator Ed Annunziata.
According to Annunziata in an interview with Xbox Wire, the remasters for both games will be followed by the development of a new, third mainline Ecco game.
“Me and the entire original team are going to Remaster the original Ecco the Dolphin and Tides of Time games,” Annunziata revealed. “Then we will make a new, third game with contemporary play and GPU sensibilities. Stay tuned to eccothedolphin.com.”
The first Ecco the Dolphin was created by Annunziata and his team at Novotrade International for the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive in 1992, published by Sega.
Its sequel, Ecco the Dolphin: Tides of Time, was released in 1994 across Sega’s platforms at the time including the Genesis/Mega Drive, Sega CD, and even the Sega Game Gear.
The Ecco series also included two Ecco Jr. titles and the final game, Ecco the Dolphin: Defender of the Future, considered a reboot. This new third game appears to be a true sequel to the original classics.
