Counter-Strike is well-known for its asymmetric levels, although its millions of players may not all agree. Counter-Strike creator Minh Le recently shared his favorite maps in an interview, citing cs_siege as one of them.
“CS_Siege, cs_facility, were some of my favorite maps,” Le mentioned in a conversation with Spillhistorie.no. “I also really wanted to love cs_747 but I think having linear maps was really bad for gameplay.”
Siege, one of the original Counter-Strike maps from beta 1.0 in 1999, stands out as an iconic location. The map features long sight-lines, strategic chokepoints, and a sense of narrative that adds to the tension of gameplay. It pits attackers against defenders, creating a dynamic and engaging experience.
While Dust remains a popular map in the Counter-Strike community, Siege has not received the same level of recognition. Despite making an appearance in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, it has yet to return in Counter-Strike 2. Hopefully, fans will get to revisit this classic map in the future.
