ChatGPT has introduced a new feature called “Year in Review,” adding to the trend of apps offering yearly recaps to users. This feature will display various statistics, such as the number of messages exchanged with the chatbot in 2025, and will also generate an AI-created pixel art-style image based on the topics discussed throughout the year.
My personalized image included elements like an aquarium, a game cartridge, an Instant Pot, and a computer screen, reflecting conversations about retro game consoles, cooking, and maintaining a fish tank.
In addition to the image, users will receive summaries highlighting the dominant themes in their chats, their chat style description, the busiest messaging day, and an “archetype” categorization based on app usage, like “The Producer” or “The Navigator.” Users will also receive a customized award corresponding to their usage patterns, such as the “Instant Pot Prodigy” award.
The “Year in Review” feature is currently available to users in the US, UK, Canada, New Zealand, and Australia. To access their recap, users must have granted ChatGPT permission to access their previous conversations and preferences. The recap can be viewed by selecting the option on the ChatGPT app’s homepage on mobile or desktop, or by requesting ChatGPT to “show my year in review.”
