December is a bustling month for Apple TV, offering a variety of festive comedies and family favorites for the holiday season. This year, the lineup includes a special addition: Apple’s popular summer action film, F1: The Movie, will be available on the service starting tomorrow, December 12.
Out of all the original films produced by Apple, F1 has had the longest journey from the big screen to the streaming service. It’s safe to say that none of Apple’s previous films have come close to the success of the Brad Pitt-led racing movie.
While Apple’s previous big-budget films took an average of 85 days to make the transition from theaters to Apple TV, F1 took 168 days. Despite the longer wait, F1 surpassed the box office earnings of all other Apple-produced films combined, grossing over $629 million during its theatrical run.
Tomorrow, Apple TV subscribers can enjoy F1: The Movie at no additional cost. Although it may not provide the same IMAX experience as the theatrical release, it’s still worth setting up your surround sound system and preparing some popcorn for the viewing, especially since the film was created by the same team behind Top Gun: Maverick.
The Film is Just the Beginning
If watching Brad Pitt in F1: The Movie leaves you craving more Formula One racing, you’re in luck. Apple is now the home of US Formula One streaming, following a five-year deal that made Apple the exclusive broadcast partner for the sport in the United States.
Starting with the 2026 season’s first Grand Prix on March 7, all the Formula One action can be found on Apple TV without any additional fees. In addition to races, fans can enjoy live coverage of practice and qualifying sessions, onboard driver cams, and Multiview angles.
Apple’s F1 deal goes beyond just races, promising innovative fan-first coverage that includes commentary shows, driver interviews, and more. Despite a recent price increase, Apple TV subscriptions are still available for $12.99 per month or as part of an Apple One bundle.
