Bluesky is currently facing a significant outage.

I am unable to load my Bluesky feed on my desktop browser; it just displays a loading circle. The mobile app is also experiencing issues as the feed fails to load after logging in. Other Verge colleagues are encountering similar problems.

A 6:55PM ET update on the status page mentions “major PDS networking problems” and an ongoing investigation into the outage affecting Bluesky hosted PDS instances. Subsequently, a 7:38PM ET update indicates that a likely root cause has been identified, and a fix is being deployed to the Bluesky PDS fleet.

Bluesky has not responded to requests for comment nor provided any updates on its Twitter account regarding the issue.

In a previous incident in November, Bluesky experienced slow-loading feeds and notifications due to downtime from one of its internet providers caused by a cut fiber cable. This outage occurred on what Bluesky referred to as its “highest traffic day ever.”

Update, April 24th: Bluesky has announced that a fix is being rolled out.
