During Netflix’s Geeked Week 2024, Charlie Brooker teased the upcoming season:
Expect a mix of genres and styles in the upcoming season. With six episodes, two of them will be feature-length. The stories range from deeply unsettling to humorous and emotional.
The new season returns to its sci-fi roots, with disturbing content presented in a unique manner.
It has been known for some time that a sequel to the popular Star Trek parody episode is in the works. The USS Callister episode from the fourth season featured Jesse Plemons and Cristin Milioti, with a cameo by Kirsten Dunst.
The new season will delve into what happened to Daly’s team following the events of the previous episode. In a statement to Netflix’s Tudum, Brooker humorously mentioned:
For the first time in Black Mirror history, we have created a sequel. Usually, I kill off all the characters by the end of an episode, but this time, I’ve kept some of them alive. I’m evolving as a person.
