Google Home chief Anish Kattukaran recently unveiled a series of updates to the smart home platform aimed at addressing various issues and quirks. One standout addition is the introduction of “Live Search” for cameras, allowing users to inquire about real-time events captured by their cameras.
With Live Search, Gemini can now provide information on what is currently happening in your camera feeds, enabling queries such as “Hey Google, is there a car in the driveway?” This feature is available to users with a subscription to the Advanced plan of Google Home Premium, priced at $20 per month or $200 per year.
In addition to Live Search, Gemini for Home has been upgraded with new models to enhance the accuracy and quality of responses to general questions and improve the playback of recently released songs.
Furthermore, Gemini now boasts improved contextual understanding, enabling more precise targeting of smart devices. For instance, commands like “turn off the kitchen” will now exclusively affect the lights in that room, rather than all smart devices. Similarly, commands like “turn off all the lights” will only impact the lights in the user’s current location, avoiding unintended actions in other managed locations.
Overall, these updates signify Google Home’s commitment to enhancing user experience and functionality within the smart home ecosystem.
