Ubisoft has confirmed that the upcoming update for Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora will introduce a third-person mode, New Game +, and more to the fantastical action game upon its release on December 5, 2025.
It’s quite surprising to see Ubisoft announcing a patch with such a specific launch date several months in advance. Nevertheless, it’s exciting to learn that there are new updates and content on the horizon for this game. The reason behind this early announcement is that the update will coincide with the upcoming release of Avatar: Fire and Ash, the third installment in James Cameron’s iconic blue-skinned alien franchise.
The third-person mode will see Massive Entertainment revamping character animations, adjusting controls and audio, and repositioning the camera to transition the game from first person to third person. This transformation is reminiscent of the changes Capcom made for Resident Evil Village’s third-person mode.
Additionally, a New Game + mode will be introduced, allowing players to replay the story while retaining their inventory and skills, but facing more challenging foes. It’s a feature that many gamers appreciate.
“We have always viewed Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora as a dynamic world that evolves alongside our players,” stated Omar Bouali, the Creative Director at Massive Entertainment. “This update is a tribute to the dedication of our community, and we are grateful for the support of our players—it truly means the world to our team.”
Ubisoft has consistently supported Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, releasing two story expansions – The Sky Breaker and Secrets of the Spires – in addition to quality of life updates like a 40FPS mode and combat rebalancing.
We were thoroughly impressed with Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora upon its initial release last year. In our review, Dom praised the game, saying, “Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is a remarkable feat, boasting stunning visuals and a perfect blend of tranquility and action. It presents a captivating alien world that serves as a unique FPS experience.”
