Rebellion has recently unveiled a new gameplay overview video for their upcoming survival action game, Atomfall. Set in an alternate reality following the real-life Windscale nuclear disaster in Britain, Atomfall explores a world where things have gone terribly wrong. Players find themselves trapped within a quarantine zone, surrounded by soldiers, bandits, and other dangerous threats.
The gameplay video offers a glimpse into the game’s world, showcasing the village where players will spend much of their time, as well as the untamed wilderness and nearby bunkers. The game kicks off with a Fallout-like vibe, as players awaken to a world they no longer recognize. The protagonist is an amnesiac, providing players with the freedom to navigate and survive this harsh environment as they see fit. Whether you choose to aid others or sow chaos among different factions, the choice is yours. The British military, tasked with maintaining order within the quarantine zone, enforces strict rules, with even minor infractions leading to severe consequences.
However, the military is not the sole threat in Atomfall. Beyond the village borders, outlaws and bandits lurk, posing a constant danger to players. These hostile forces will attack without hesitation, making survival a constant challenge. The surrounding areas, such as the old quarry and hills, hide secrets and vital resources essential for survival. Exploring irradiated bunkers inhabited by mutated creatures and security robots is crucial for uncovering the truth behind the catastrophe.
Combat in Atomfall combines melee with firearms, including cricket bats and limited ammunition guns like pistols, shotguns, and rifles. Crafting and upgrading weapons using environmental resources play a crucial role in enhancing combat effectiveness. Players can also craft bombs, healing items, and utilize a metal detector to uncover hidden supply caches. Manuals scattered throughout the game world unlock new skills, such as weapon throwing, categorized into ranged combat, melee combat, survival, and conditioning.
Atomfall is set to launch on PC, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS5, and PS4 on March 27th, 2025.
