Assassin’s Creed Shadows is getting a much-needed parkour update

Ubisoft has unveiled the year one update roadmap for the open world action-adventure game Assassin’s Creed Shadows. The roadmap includes new quest and story updates, requested features like NG+, and quality of life improvements. But the biggest news is the focus on enhancing the parkour traversal mechanics, a core aspect of the series.

While Ubisoft has introduced numerous supplementary features over the years, the parkour traversal that defined the early Assassin’s Creed games has lost its thrill and creativity. Enhancing the climbing and jumping mechanics can reignite the excitement and immersion of the gameplay.

The first update in May will introduce new parkour moves such as “height-gaining back-ejects” and “Vertical Ledge Jump” for more dynamic traversal. Ubisoft also plans to add more parkour tricks and tweaks throughout the year based on community feedback.

Additionally, the roadmap includes a higher difficulty setting and other updates based on player input. It’s refreshing to see developers listening to fans, even if it sometimes feels like a focus group scenario from a cartoon.
