As we eagerly anticipate the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 Direct set for April, let’s take a moment to review some important updates for current and future Switch users.

Nintendo has recently announced changes to its Switch Game Vouchers and eShop Gold Points programs, with the latter set to be discontinued after March 25.

Let’s start with the updates to Gold Points. Starting from March 25, 2025, users will no longer earn Gold Points for digital purchases made on Nintendo eShop or the official Nintendo website. However, pre-orders made until March 24 will still earn Gold Points, regardless of the release date of the game.

Additionally, users can still earn Gold Points by registering physical Game Cards on a Nintendo Switch console, as long as the game was released before March 24, 2025. Gold Points will remain valid for 12 months from the date of earning them, even after the discontinuation.

Now, let’s talk about the Switch Game Vouchers. These vouchers, which allow users to purchase two Switch games at a discounted price, will not be redeemable for Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive games.
