The competition between iPhone and Android continues, and a recent study from CIRP examines how Apple’s share of US smartphones has evolved over the last four years. While some reports suggest that iPhone’s market share is over 50%, CIRP’s latest data tells a different story.
CIRP released a new report on Substack titled “Apple Smartphone Market Share in the US is Stable – and Second Place.”
Based on data from the past year, CIRP’s findings reveal that iPhone holds a 39% market share, a modest 2% increase from the previous year.
According to CIRP’s data, iOS market share in the US reached its peak at 46% in 2020 before experiencing a nearly 10% decline over the following two years.
It’s important to note that studies like these are not definitive and can vary depending on factors such as sample size and respondent randomness.
For instance, a report from Counterpoint in July indicated that Apple’s US smartphone market share had surged to 55%, a significant 16% discrepancy from CIRP’s current report.
The actual market share for iPhone likely lies somewhere between these two figures.
What are your thoughts? Do you believe the actual iPhone market share in the US is closer to 39% or 55%? Share your opinions in the comments!
