Apple’s Free Sports App Gains FA Community Shield Coverage, Expands to Mexico

Apple Sports July 2025 hero

The Apple Sports app is known for its speed and convenience in keeping track of favorite teams and league standings. With the latest version 3.1 update, Apple is expanding its reach to sports fans in Mexico, adding the FA Community Shield to the mix, and making it the fourth supported region. This update also marks the first time the app is available in a non-English-speaking country, following its initial launch in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom. Mexican fans can now stay updated on the Apertura 2025 championship and the progress of their local teams in the MLS Leagues Cup.

In addition, English football fans can now follow the FA Community Shield through the app, as Liverpool Football Club takes on Crystal Palace in the pre-season opener at Wembley Stadium on August 10.

The 3.1 update builds upon the 3.0 release from June, which introduced a redesigned home screen to organize games by league and allow users to customize their preferred sections. The app now offers enhanced box scores with more detailed player statistics tailored to each league. Since its launch in February 2024, Apple Sports has evolved to cover a wide range of sports, including MLB, MLS, NBA, NHL, NCAA basketball, and various soccer leagues. Updates have expanded coverage to include NCAAF, NWSL, WNBA, NFL, Champions League, Europa League, and more.

Future updates will bring sports scores to CarPlay in iOS 26, allowing users to stay informed on live activities for their favorite teams directly from their dashboard.
