Apple Releases Second Dev Betas of iOS 26, macOS Tahoe, and More

WWDC25 operating systems 26

Apple has rolled out the second round of developer betas for iOS 26, iPadOS 26, macOS Tahoe, and more, following its typical two-week release schedule. These betas are still intended for developers and should only be installed on dedicated testing devices. However, the second beta usually brings significant improvements over the initial preview, and this time is no different.

The iOS 26 beta is already showing improved performance, running cooler than its predecessor. Users are hopeful that this will also translate to better battery life. Along with bug fixes and performance enhancements, Apple often introduces new features and tweaks to the user interface with each beta release.

This year’s software updates have taken a different approach compared to previous releases. The initial developer betas for iOS 26 and other versions were nearly feature-complete, which is a departure from past practices. While new features may still be introduced in future updates, Apple is currently focused on refining iOS 26.0.

What’s New in The Second Round of Betas

One of the standout changes in this year’s software updates is the introduction of a new interface called “Liquid Glass.” This redesign is expected to undergo further adjustments before the final release in September.

The Control Center in iOS 26 and iPadOS 26 has been updated in the second beta, addressing concerns about its transparency. Another notable addition is the “Alt 1” version of the Reflections ringtone, which is now accessible in the Settings app.

Apple Music now features a Live Radio widget, while the Wallet app includes enhanced Order Tracking capabilities using Apple Intelligence. Safari on iOS has also received button placement tweaks for improved usability.

On the macOS side, the Finder icon in macOS Tahoe has been restored to its original design in the second beta. Additionally, users can now opt to show the menu bar background, reverting to a more traditional macOS look.

While further exploration of the second beta is ongoing, it appears that the major features showcased at WWDC are already in place. This beta cycle is likely to focus on fine-tuning and refining the user experience.
