- Playlist Playground (beta) generates playlists based on your descriptions
- Concerts helps you discover nearby shows from artists in your library
- Offline Music Recognition in Control Center identifies songs without an internet connection
- Ambient Music widget for Sleep, Chill, Productivity, and Wellbeing provides curated playlists
- Full-screen backgrounds for album and playlist pages
Accessibility
- Reduce bright effects setting minimizes bright flashes when tapping on elements
- Subtitle and caption settings are easily accessible while viewing media
- Reduce Motion setting reduces animations for users sensitive to screen motion
In addition, the update includes:
- 8 new emoji characters
- Advanced image creation and editing tools in Freeform
- Marking reminders as urgent and filtering them in Smart Lists
- Purchase Sharing for Family Sharing groups
- Improved keyboard accuracy
iOS 26.5 and iOS 27 are next
Upcoming updates include iOS 26.5, which is expected to feature new Siri and Apple Intelligence capabilities powered by Google’s Gemini AI models. Apple’s collaboration with Google on this technology is set to bring enhanced Personal Intelligence features.
Looking ahead, iOS 27 is also anticipated to introduce new AI functionalities as part of its software update.
Apple is likely to unveil iOS 27 at WWDC 2026 in June, with the official release scheduled for September following a period of summer development.
