Apple Releases iOS 16.6 Beta for Developer Testing
Apple has rolled out the fifth iOS 16.6 beta for developers, gearing up for an imminent iPhone software update release. Public beta versions are also now available.
iOS 16.6 has been in developer beta since May and is expected to be released this month. While it may not bring new user-facing features, it marks one of the final updates before iOS 17’s launch in September.
With iOS 17 dropping support for some older iPhone models, including the iPhone X, iPhone 8, and iPhone 8 Plus, iOS 16.6 will be the last update cycle for these devices. Apple will continue to provide security updates for older iOS versions for several years.
Other developer betas released alongside iOS 16.6 include iPadOS 16.6, tvOS 16.6, macOS 13.5, and watchOS 9.6.
