Apple Intelligence Phase Two Officially Arrives – iDrop News

iOS 18.2 ChatGPT search with Siri

Apple has rolled out its major December software updates to the public, introducing the latest Apple Intelligence features to the iPhone, iPad, and Mac. After a beta period that began in late October, iOS 18.2, iPadOS 18.2, and macOS Sequoia 15.2 bring Apple’s AI initiatives to new heights, with AI image generation and integration with ChatGPT. These new features expand on the Writing Tools and summarization features introduced in iOS 18.1 and earlier updates this fall.

The latest updates also mark the official launch of Apple Intelligence outside the United States, with support for various English dialects spoken in countries such as Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa, and the United Kingdom. Previously, users in these countries had to set their device language to U.S. English to access Apple Intelligence features. With the latest updates, users can now enjoy these features in their native dialect.

The release of iOS 18.2, iPadOS 18.2, and macOS 15.2 brings a range of new Apple Intelligence features to users. These include Image Playground for creative visual expression, Genmoji for personalized emojis, and enhanced Writing Tools for dynamic writing. Additionally, iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro users can utilize visual intelligence with Camera Control to learn more about their surroundings. The integration of ChatGPT into Writing Tools and Siri allows users to access ChatGPT’s expertise seamlessly, improving efficiency in completing tasks.

While iPhone and iPad users will have access to a full suite of image generation tools, Mac users will receive Image Playground this month with plans for Genmoji to be available in the future. Writing Tools in iOS 18.2 and other updates offer enhanced features for tone changes in text blocks, along with integration with ChatGPT for generating text. Siri now supports ChatGPT integration, allowing users to access ChatGPT’s capabilities directly through voice commands.

Apple has promised additional Apple Intelligence capabilities in future updates, including enhanced Siri functionality tailored to user context, onscreen awareness, and expanded actions across apps. Image Playground will introduce a Sketch style for creating detailed and vibrant images. More languages, including Chinese, French, German, Japanese, and Spanish, will be supported in upcoming updates, starting in April.

To access Apple Intelligence features, users need a compatible device running the latest software updates. Macs and iPads with M-series chips are compatible, along with select iPhone models such as the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and iPhone 16 models. Apple plans to expand Apple Intelligence support to more devices in the future. Although currently available in English, Apple is working to support additional languages in the coming months.
