'Ancient Dungeon' for PSVR 2 Gets Long-awaited Multiplayer Co-op Mode

Ancient Dungeon VR, the rogue-lite dungeon crawler, has received an exciting update on PSVR 2 that introduces multiplayer co-op to the game.

Initially launched in 2021 on Steam Early Access and the now-defunct App Lab for Quest, Ancient Dungeon was originally a single-player experience, offering players 20+ hours of gameplay in physics-based combat against various foes inspired by D&D.

Although the Quest and SteamVR versions added four-player co-op in mid-2024, the PSVR 2 version was left without this feature until now. The update, released by the game’s creator Eric Thullen, now allows up to four players to navigate the procedurally-generated dungeons, traps, and enemies together in co-op mode.

In a recent Reddit Q&A, Thullen mentioned that cross-play is not currently supported across platforms, but confirmed that cross-play with Quest and PC VR is in the works for a future update.

Ancient Dungeon has been a standout indie success story in the VR world, starting with a successful Kickstarter in 2020 and gaining over 1,000 positive reviews for its beta version, boasting an impressive score of [4.8/5].

Continuing to deliver regular updates, the game has introduced new weapons, cosmetics, insight upgrades, dungeon floors, and relics over the years. The team behind the game is working towards a big 1.0 release, with a Steam update indicating that there is still some work to be done before reaching that milestone.

You can purchase Ancient Dungeon VR on Steam for PC VR headsets, the Horizon Store for Quest, and the PlayStation Store for PSVR 2, priced at $20.
