Amazon Acquires Fauna Robotics, a Startup Developing Kid-Size Humanoid Robots
Amazon has officially announced its acquisition of Fauna Robotics, a startup founded by former Meta and Google engineers. The company is focused on creating kid-size humanoid robots.
The acquisition was first reported by Bloomberg, but the terms of the deal have not been disclosed. Fauna’s team, including its founders, will now be part of Amazon’s operations in New York City.
An Amazon spokesperson expressed excitement about Fauna’s vision to develop capable, safe, and entertaining robots for all. The collaboration aims to leverage Amazon’s robotics expertise and customer trust to enhance the lives of consumers.
Fauna recently introduced its first product, Sprout, a 59-pound bipedal robot, to selected research and development partners.
This marks Amazon’s second robotics acquisition this month. The company also acquired Rivr, a Swiss autonomous robotics startup known for its innovative stair-climbing delivery robot.
