Alexis Ohanian is premiering his women’s soccer show on X

In a recent email sent out late on a Friday, X CEO Linda Yaccarino made an exciting announcement about the launch of a new feature on the platform called the “video tab.” This feature is said to resemble a TikTok-style endless scroll, as described by a source within X. Additionally, Yaccarino revealed plans for an exclusive reality series on X titled “The Offseason,” featuring soccer star Midge Purce and produced by investor Alexis Ohanian.

This news comes following a recent gathering of X partners and clients at the New York office earlier in the week. Yaccarino is working diligently to retain advertisers and content creators, who are crucial to the platform but have been gradually leaving due to the actions of its owner, Elon Musk.

Yaccarino shared that Purce and Ohanian visited the office to provide more details about the upcoming premiere of “The Offseason,” scheduled to debut on October 18. X has been actively securing content deals with creators such as MrBeast and celebrities like Don Lemon, who is currently in a legal battle with Musk after his show was canceled. These efforts are part of X’s strategy to pivot towards video content and position itself as a competitor to YouTube in the video-hosting space.

“The Offseason” is a collaborative production involving reality TV producer Alex Baskin (known for “Vanderpump Rules”) and Box to Box Films (“Drive to Survive”), in addition to Ohanian, according to reports from Variety. The show will follow 11 national women’s league soccer players during their off-season, as they live together for two weeks in Miami. Viewers can expect an inside look at their personal stories, relationships, and on-field experiences without any filters.

Ohanian and Yaccarino also highlighted Ohanian’s women’s track event, Athlos, in their social media posts, announcing that it will be live-streamed from New York City on X on Thursday night.
