AirPlay streaming launches today on TVs at IHG hotels and resorts

IHG Hotels & Resorts Now Support AirPlay for iOS 17

Guests staying at more than sixty IHG Hotels & Resorts locations can now enjoy the convenience of using the new iOS 17 AirPlay feature. This allows them to effortlessly stream content from their iPhone or iPad to the TV in their hotel room, without the need for any additional hardware.

Similar to how they would stream to an Apple TV at home, guests can simply select their hotel TV as the AirPlay output to watch videos, view photos, and listen to music.

To connect to the hotel TV, guests just need to scan the unique QR code displayed on the screen. This will link their device to the hotel’s Wi-Fi network and authorize AirPlay to stream to that specific screen. The TVs supporting this feature are manufactured by LG.

The individual QR code assigned to each hotel room ensures that guests can securely stream content to their own TV without the risk of broadcasting to other TVs in the hotel. Once they check out, the AirPlay link is automatically removed, resetting the TV for the next guest.

This AirPlay functionality for hotels was initially announced as part of iOS 17, but it was not available until the release of iOS 17.3 in January. Now, guests at participating IHG locations can take advantage of this feature, with more hotels set to introduce it in the coming months.
