Agatha All Along has captivated audiences and sparked a social media frenzy akin to WandaVision in 2021. This time, the buzz revolves around the enigmatic character of Joe Locke, known as Teen.
The sixteen-year-old is ensnared in a dark enchantment that silences him whenever he attempts to disclose his name or share details about his past.
Fans speculate that this dark magic enthusiast, a devoted follower of Agatha (referred to as her “pet” or “Toto” for now), will have a significant role not only in this series but also in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as a whole. Such a spell could only be cast by a powerful witch.
Episode three further fueled these speculations as Teen delved into inquiries about Agatha’s missing son, someone the witches believe she wouldn’t even recognize “even if he turned up at her door” – a situation reminiscent of Teen’s own introduction.
With each passing week and new episode, speculation continues to mount. Here are the most popular theories regarding the true identity of Teen in Agatha All Along.
Nicholas Scratch
Initial suspicions suggest that Teen is Agatha’s lost son, Nicky – also known as Nicholas Scratch. Viewers with keen eyes may have caught a glimpse of Agatha’s son’s room in episode one, hinting at his name and the potential appearance of this comic book character in the series.
In the comics, Nicholas eventually becomes the leader of the New Salem community in Colorado and evolves into a supervillain, battling against the Fantastic Four and even betraying his own mother.
In episode three, Teen’s curiosity about this mysterious figure prompts him to question Jen further about the son, who she speculates could be deceased, a “daemon,” or an “agent of Mephisto.” It remains unclear whether Teen’s interest stems from his fascination with Agatha, his own desire to ascertain the suspicions of the coven, or to uncover information about Nicky.
Given the past speculations during WandaVision regarding Mephisto’s involvement in Wanda’s hex, could this be another misdirection? Or are we on the brink of encountering an evil follower of the ruler of Hell?
Billy Maximoff
The prevailing theory among fans posits that Locke portrays an older version of Billy Maximoff, Wanda’s son seen as a ten-year-old in WandaVision.
Numerous clues hint at this being the teen’s true identity, such as his fascination with dark magic and his quest to traverse the Witches’ Road – a path that grants a single reward. This reward could potentially involve freeing his mother, Wanda, whom Agatha has suggested may not be deceased, as indicated by her cryptic statement “You never know” in episode 1, within her detective illusion.
Additional subtle hints include the blue aura surrounding the teen, reminiscent of Billy in WandaVision, and the sigma shape on his lips, with the black stitches forming a ‘W’ or ‘M’ shape. This detail implies that the powerful witch who cast the spell could be his mother, Wanda Maximoff.
While the timeline may not align with WandaVision, occurring three years later, Billy would theoretically be 13 rather than 16. However, he could represent a duplicate of Wanda and Vision’s son.
In the comics, Billy Kaplan, also known as Wiccan, possessed the ability to rewrite magical rules and stood as a formidable witch in his own right, eventually becoming part of the Young Avengers. Only time will reveal the true identity of this teen, and with magic at play, anything is possible.
