After a long break, Acer has made a surprising comeback to the wearable tech market with the launch of the Acer FreeSense Ring, a competitor to the Samsung Galaxy Ring and Oura Ring 4.
The announcement of the Acer FreeSense Ring took everyone by surprise at Computex 2025 in Taipei, an event usually focused on laptops and PC gear. Unlike other tech releases, this one was not leaked beforehand.
The FreeSense Ring, like other smart rings, features biometric sensors on the inside and can be worn on your finger or thumb. It is crafted from an ultra-lightweight titanium alloy and comes in glossy black or matte rose gold finishes in seven sizes (7-13).
This sophisticated ring is IP68/5ATM dust and water resistant, 2.6mm thick, and weighs between 2-3g depending on the size.
One stand-out feature of the FreeSense Ring is that it does not require a subscription fee, unlike its competitors. Priced at $199-250, it is one of the more affordable smart rings in the market, including the Samsung Galaxy Ring.

According to Tom’s Guide, the Acer FreeSense Ring is set to be released in August.
Equipped with various sensors, the Acer FreeSense Ring can monitor metrics such as heart rate, heart rate variability, blood oxygen levels, and sleep patterns.
The companion app uses AI to provide wellness insights and recommendations based on the collected data.
Acer stated, “With features like sleep stage analysis and continuous tracking, the Acer FreeSense Ring promotes proactive health management and lifestyle awareness.”
The durability and efficiency of the FreeSense Ring’s data collection and processing, compared to its competitors, remain a key concern despite its four-day battery life.
Acer may introduce unique features for the FreeSense Ring to integrate seamlessly with their other devices, such as laptops, potentially offering innovative functionalities.
The last Acer wearable, the Liquid Leap+, was seen at MWC 2015, leaving many hopeful for a Google Pixel smart ring in the future.
