Plaud has recently introduced its newest wearable voice recording device, the NotePin S, designed as a compact AI-powered note-taking solution tailored for professionals who require to capture conversations during their workday. This capsule-sized device weighs only 17.4 grams without its magnetic pin accessory and includes four different wearing options, allowing users to clip, pin, hang, or strap the recorder to their clothing or wrist.
The San Francisco-based company, with offices in several global locations such as Singapore, Tokyo, Shenzhen, Seattle, and Beijing, has developed the NotePin S around what they refer to as Plaud Intelligence, an AI platform that manages transcription, summarization, and contextual analysis of recorded audio.
**Hardware Specifications and Design:**
The NotePin S measures 51 x 21 x 11mm, approximately the size of a large vitamin capsule. It features two MEMS microphones capable of capturing audio from distances up to three meters, providing clear recording quality across various meeting environments. The device operates using a physical tactile button for operation, where a long press starts and stops recordings, and a short press during recording creates a highlighted timestamp.
Battery life lasts for 20 hours of continuous recording, with standby time up to 40 days between charges. The internal storage capacity is 64GB, offering ample space for recorded conversations before needing transfer to the companion app. Charging requires a dedicated dock connected via USB-C, and users must remove the magnetic pin accessory before placing the device in its charging cradle.
At launch, the NotePin S is available in three color options: black, silver, and purple. The company has also announced that Apple Find My integration is upcoming, enabling users to locate their device if misplaced.
**Included Accessories:**
Rather than selling wearing accessories separately, Plaud includes four options with every NotePin S purchase. The magnetic clip attaches to jacket lapels or shirt collars without needing pin-based fastening, while the traditional pin mount provides a more secure attachment through clothing fabric. A lanyard option allows the device to hang around the neck for quick recording access, and a wristband mount offers an alternative for users who prefer wrist-worn devices.
This inclusive approach addresses the practical challenge of ensuring consistent device wear for capturing necessary conversations throughout the day. By offering multiple mounting options, Plaud aims to provide users with comfortable configurations for all-day wear.
**Plaud Intelligence: The Software Platform:**
The hardware primarily serves as a capture device, with the heavy lifting performed by Plaud Intelligence, the company’s cloud-based AI platform. This system manages key functions that transform raw audio into structured, searchable content.
– **Transcription Capabilities:** The transcription engine supports 112 languages and employs Whisper Large V3 and Azure speech recognition models. Speaker labeling automatically identifies different voices in a conversation, attributing text to named speakers once identified. Users can create custom vocabulary lists to enhance accuracy for industry-specific terminology or product names.
