We recently discussed how you can customize the look of your iPhone’s Home Screen by changing app sizes and removing app names. In this article, we’ll delve deeper into another exciting customization option for your Home Screen – tinting.
Tinting allows you to give your Home Screen a unique color. While it may not always be easy on the eyes, finding the right balance can create a visually appealing look. If you’re interested in giving your Home Screen a fresh new look, continue reading to learn how to tint it.
Here’s a step-by-step guide to adjusting the colors of your Home Screen app icons:
- Long-press on any empty area of the Home Screen to make the app icons jiggle.
- Tap on Edit at the top left corner of your screen.
- Select Customize.
- At the bottom of the screen, you’ll see options like Light, Dark, Automatic, and Tinted. Choose Tinted.
- Use the sliders to adjust the tint of your Home Screen. The color will change in real-time as you make adjustments.
- To revert to the original Home Screen color, select Automatic.
Keep in mind that these customizations only affect the Home Screen. When you open an app, it will display in its standard color scheme. Once you close the app, your tinted Home Screen will reappear.
If you want to match the tint with your wallpaper, use the eyedropper icon in the top right corner of the menu. This will open a tool that allows you to select a color from your wallpaper and apply it to your Home Screen. Simply drag the tool to the desired area on your wallpaper, and the tint will adjust accordingly.
This new customization feature is exclusive to iOS 18, offering a fun way to personalize your device. While some tint levels may be too intense for everyday use, it’s worth experimenting with to create a unique Home Screen look.
