EA Announces Return to Modern Setting for Next Battlefield Game

In a recent interview with IGN, Vince Zampella, Head of Respawn & Group GM for EA Studios Organization, emphasized the importance of returning to the core elements that made Battlefield successful in the past. He stated, “If you look back to the peak of Battlefield, it’s that Battlefield 3… Battlefield 4 era where everything was modern. And I think we have to get back to the core of what Battlefield is and do that amazingly well, and then we’ll see where it goes from there.”
While Battlefield 2042 introduced ambitious features to push the series forward, such as large maps accommodating up to 128 players and unique character abilities, these changes faced mixed feedback from the community. Zampella acknowledged the need to prioritize fun over sheer numbers, leading to adjustments in subsequent updates to align with the traditional Battlefield experience.
