Sharp & Japan's Largest Telecom Unveil Lightweight AR Glasses 'MiZRA'

Sharp and NTT Docomo, Japan’s largest telecom company, have joined forces to introduce a groundbreaking new product to the market this Fall – the MiZRA AR glasses.

With its distinctive design featuring chunky struts, 6DOF tracking sensors, and a center-mounted camera, the Mizra is not your average pair of glasses. The AR optics, developed by South Korean company LetinAR, provide a unique 45-degree diagonal field of view.

Manufactured by NTT QONOQ Devices, a collaboration between Sharp and NTT’s XR development branch, the Mizra comes with a hefty price tag of ¥248,000 (~$1,730 USD), indicating its target audience is likely to be in the enterprise sector.

The press release highlights Mizra’s ability to take photos, make calls, and display multiple screens around the user. It boasts a peak brightness of 1,000 nits, powered by 1,920 × 1,080 microOLEDs.

Featuring a balanced weight distribution and components positioned towards the back for comfort, Mizra is equipped with an internal battery and Qualcomm Snapdragon AR2 Gen1 processor. It can wirelessly connect to Snapdragon Spaces-compatible smartphones.
