At times, I find myself torn between playing a video game or indulging in a tranquil activity like constructing a quaint Dutch town complete with iron bridges, fountains, and charming trams buzzing around like busy bees. Enter Tramstertram, a creative browser-based building tool developed by Matt Stark, the mastermind behind the delightful Viewfinder.

Recently launched, Tramstertram offers a 3D scene that you can rotate, featuring various tiles to place down – from townhouses and streets to tram rails and parkland. These elements seamlessly come together to form larger structures as you piece them together. While it pays homage to Townscaper, Tramstertram is simpler in design, serving as a small digital treat for anyone seeking a brief escape to admire a tramcar gliding along a row of trees.

With a selection of pre-made towns available, including a bonus map revealing the magic behind tile combinations, Tramstertram also allows you to share your creations by copying and pasting a unique world code. If trams aren’t your thing, rest assured that Stark has a history of creating similar building toys centered around treehouses, fishtanks, and mining carts.

A delightful end to the week, wouldn’t you agree? And if you’re craving more creative outlets, keep an eye out for the upcoming release of the “whimsigoth” cottage builder Tiny Glade later this year – Kiera has already shown great enthusiasm for it.
