Flat2VR Studios is thrilled to announce their acceptance into the prestigious SPEEDRUN accelerator program. This opportunity not only provides financial support for the studio’s mission to bring VR support to non-VR games but also serves as a validation of their innovative approach.
Organized by A16Z Games, the games-focused investment arm of Andreessen Horowitz, Speedrun is an early-stage accelerator for startups offering $750,000 in funding along with access to a select group of industry coaches, mentors, and like-minded founders, as described by the VC firm.
Flat2VR Studios expressed their excitement about the accelerator’s potential to bring more dream titles into the world of VR, stating, “We’re so honored to have been accepted into the @a16z speed run program which should help open some doors to porting more of those absolute dream titles officially into VR!”

Co-founder Elliot Tate revealed that Flat2VR Studios is one of the 30 selected out of 4,000 applicants for the accelerator, joining esteemed companies such as Oculus, Gym Class VR, and Sandbox VR in the Speedrun program.
Founded earlier this year by Impact Reality, Flat2VR Studios aims to collaborate with top developers from the VR modding community to create officially licensed VR adaptations of popular non-VR games.
Unlike traditional modding groups, Flat2VR Studios partners directly with developers to produce official VR versions of their games. The studio boasts experienced VR porting experts ‘Cabalistic’ and ‘Raicuparta’, known for their successful VR conversions of games like Half-Life 2 and Outer Wilds.
The studio is currently in the process of developing an official VR port for an undisclosed game, scheduled for release in late 2024 or early 2025 on major VR platforms. More details are expected to be revealed at the VR Games Showcase on August 15th.
