Boeing Space’s Starliner spacecraft recently completed its first crewed mission to the International Space Station (ISS), but unexpected issues have delayed its return to Earth. A hot fire test was conducted to assess the spacecraft’s thrusters, crucial for re-entry into the atmosphere.
Boeing Space provided an update, stating that the team is diligently preparing for the return journey once a date is finalized. Procedures for undocking were reviewed, and the crew conducted necessary maintenance tasks inside the spacecraft.
Engineers have extended the battery life of the Starliner to 90 days, allowing more time to resolve the ongoing concerns. NASA is considering various options for the return trip, including a crewed or crewless mission.
Despite the uncertainties, NASA ensures that astronauts Suni Williams and Butch Wilmore are not stranded and will have a safe journey back to Earth.
