The Thing: Remastered Developer Diary Focuses on Artwork and Design

Last month, Nightdive Studios confirmed it was working on The Thing: Remastered, a remake of the 2002 game that was based on the 1982 classic sci-fi horror film. While details are scant on the release date for The Thing: Remastered, Nightdive Studios has released a new developer diary which focuses on the game’s artwork and design, showing some of the differences from the 2002 game.

The deep dive into the artwork of The Thing: Remastered is led by Locke Vincent and joined by Joel Welsh, the studio’s art lead, who explains some of the decisions being made. The screenshots of The Thing: Remastered reveal more detail, such as tiles on the floor and additional signage compared to the original game. Joel also mentions that the original development team provided information to Nightdive Studios, facilitating a smoother remastering process. While many assets remain the same, they are now in higher resolution. Changes are being made carefully to ensure they align with the game’s scenes and the film.

It’s important to note that the showcased work by Nightdive Studios is still a work in progress, with further visual design changes expected. The release date for The Thing: Remastered has yet to be announced, but it is anticipated to be available on PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch.
