Counter-Strike 2 update plonks new crates on Dust 2, which could be game-changing

It’s been a while since I last played Counter-Strike 2, but I can always recognize a major update when I see one. Valve has recently introduced new crates near the counter-terrorist spawn, close to bombsite A. These crates now allow players to easily jump from CT up to catwalk, eliminating the need to use their teammates as a boost. This change has significant implications for gameplay, even for casual players like myself.

Located just outside CT spawn, you’ll spot the new crates positioned below the catwalk. Watch this clip to see the new boost in action:

Previously, reaching catwalk as a terrorist or counter-terrorist required assistance or a lengthy detour around the bombsite. This task became even more challenging with the threat of smoke grenades and enemy players strategically positioned on Long A, catwalk, or the bombsite itself.

Valve’s addition of these crates seems to aim at balancing the gameplay. Dust 2 has historically favored terrorists due to easier positional advantages, but now only one smoke grenade is needed to block CT vision, compared to the previous two. The new crates provide CTs with better defensive options, reducing the likelihood of being trapped between spawn and the smoke.

While I may not be a CS strategy expert, it’s clear that these crates will benefit CTs and potentially lead to the development of new tactics and strategies. A younger version of myself would have eagerly tuned into Twitch to watch professional players adapt to these changes, but now I prefer to avoid the stress.

Other updates in the patch are relatively minor. For more details, you can check them out here.
