PlayStation Plus Premium is finally worth the price

It was inevitable that PlayStation Plus would be divided into tiers at some point. The service had to evolve to keep up with competitors like Xbox Game Pass. The Premium tier, previously lacking compared to other tiers, is now showing promise as the top choice for PlayStation enthusiasts.

The Evolution of PlayStation Plus Premium

Initially, the Extra tier seemed like the best value, offering a vast library of games. In contrast, Premium only provided a few PS1 and PSP games, which lacked consistency and quality. However, recent improvements have elevated Premium’s offerings.

Sony has started adding Trophy support to PS1 games, enhancing the gaming experience. Additionally, PS2 games with Trophies are now available on Premium, running on improved emulators for the PS5. Moreover, Premium now includes VR games, catering to PlayStation VR2 users.

Despite these upgrades, Sony has not effectively promoted Premium’s strengths, similar to its handling of PlayStation Now in the past. Without proper marketing, Premium risks being overlooked by potential subscribers.

If Sony continues to expand its offerings and communicate effectively, Premium could become a compelling service for PlayStation fans. With regular additions of classic and VR games, Premium has the potential to establish itself as a premium gaming subscription.
