Faster, Secure and Native! Google Chrome Now Has An Optimized Version For Windows On Snapdragon

Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. and Google have announced the launch of a specially optimized Chrome browser for Windows PCs powered by Snapdragon processors. This release comes ahead of the upcoming PCs featuring the Snapdragon X Elite compute platform, set to be introduced in mid-2024.

Google Chrome, known as the world’s most popular browser, continues to evolve with new features, performance improvements, and security updates, including experimental generative AI capabilities.

Hiroshi Lockheimer, Senior Vice President at Google, highlighted Chrome’s key principles of speed, security, and user-friendliness across different platforms. He expressed excitement about expanding this experience to more users through collaboration with Qualcomm Technologies to ensure an optimized browsing experience for ARM-compatible PCs.

Chrome comes ahead of PCs powered by Snapdragon X Elite, debuting in mid-2024.

Qualcomm and Google have a long-standing partnership dating back to the introduction of Android phones in 2008. Snapdragon chipsets also power various wearables with Google software, with plans for further collaboration in extended reality (XR) devices.

Cristiano Amon, President and CEO of Qualcomm Inc., emphasized the importance of the new Chrome version in enhancing the role of Snapdragon X Elite as a leading platform for Windows PCs. He positioned this collaboration as crucial in the shift towards AI-driven computing, anticipating Chrome’s use of Snapdragon X Elite’s powerful capabilities.

Preliminary tests on Snapdragon X Elite reference devices have demonstrated significant performance improvements in Chrome, particularly evident in the Speedometer 2.1 benchmark.

The optimized Chrome browser for Windows on Snapdragon is now available for download, catering to users of existing Windows on Snapdragon devices.
