Here’s what’s new with iOS 27 beta 5

Apple unveiled the latest iOS 27 beta 5 today, offering developer beta testers a glimpse into the upcoming update following its debut at WWDC. Developers can now access and download the new beta version.

To install the update, navigate to the Settings app, select General, then choose Software Update. From there, opt for iOS 27 Developer Beta under Beta Updates.

iOS 27 Beta 5: What’s New?

Here are a few notable changes observed in iOS 27 beta 5:

• Updated icons for Safari, Siri, Remote, and Preview apps, with further refinements for other icons to align with Liquid Glass aesthetics. Additionally, Chess for Mac features a new glass icon.
• Siri’s enhanced voice now supports British English.
• The cellular network type no longer displays in the Control Center when connected to Wi-Fi.
• A new “Before Search” section in Search Settings allows users to toggle app suggestion count, app shortcut suggestions, and recent searches, impacting Home Screen Search suggestions.
• EE UK users now see “5G+” displayed.
• Indexing for Siri AI has been refreshed.
• The Siri animation appears slightly less saturated.
• The “Ask Siri” option no longer appears on the menu when long-pressing a Home Screen app icon.

It’s important to note that not all iOS 27 features are available on every iPhone. The update is compatible with iPhone 11 models and newer, as well as iPhone SE 2 and later versions. Advanced features like Siri AI and Apple Intelligence require newer hardware.

Apple will continue beta testing iOS 27 throughout August, with the official release expected in September alongside the new iPhone lineup.
